Anotha One

Hello hello and welcome back to another week of Sister Anderson's missionary life.

This week I hit 3 months in the WEM! Woot woot! and in 3 days I hit 100 days as a missionary!! So crazy! I have absolutely loved being a missionary! There is no place else I'd rather be!

Tomorrow is Elizabeth's baptism! We are so pumped! She is so excited to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and feel, in her own words, "complete" ❤

More exciting news.... WE PUT SOMEONE ON DATE!! Her name is Nevaeh and she is the most adorable lil thing ever! She is 9 years old and her mom is a member but Nevaeh has a really bad fear of water. We have been meeting with both of them every week ever since I got here. And yesterday we shared Exodus 14:14 with her. It says "The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." The footnote for fight says "protection devine"  She loved it! We promised her the Lord would protect her from the water and invited her to be baptized and she said yes! Her and her mom are so excited! They said they are going to practice in the bathtub haha.

I love that scripture! It's true! The Lord will fight for us and give us peace! It reminds me of this week's come follow me! In D&C 3: 7-8 It talks about how we shouldn't fear God more than man because he will extend his arm and support us against all fiery darts of the adversary and he will be with us in every time of trouble. AKA he will fight for us and protect us. Kinda cool cross reference I just found haha.

I know God loves us and is perfectly aware of us. Reach out to Him and he will reach out to you! I promise! The lord loves effort!
Love,
Sister Anderson

Craziest Week of my Life Lemmetellya!

Holy cow this week has literally been insane! Let's dive right in!

I got a new companion! Her name is Sister Durham and she is from Kaysville Utah! The craziest part is... we are greenie breaking each other! So basically what that means is that we both just got out of training! hahaha we will see how that goes! She is super awesome and I'm excited to learn from her!

Her first night at the house we woke to no power. So we were like okay what ev and went on a walk to twin lakes. Then we walked up the street and there was a fire truck and trees down and branches everywhere! Apparently we slept through a way bad storm!! So crazy.  We ended up being without power for over 48 hours! We had to move all of our refrigerated food to the church and stayed at our ward mission leaders apartment! Slumber Party woot woot!! It was insane lol.

When we finally got our power back on we got woken up to our CO2 alarm going off at 4:30 in the morning. Awesome. So we had to go sit out in the car and call people until someone woke up lol. We eventually got a hold of our  mission president and he said that we just needed to change out the batteries. whew.

Later that day we were going about our daily routine and we got this random call. So we answered ya know like, "Hi this is sister Anderson and Sister Durham" and he thought we were nuns lol. He claimed he had the wrong number but wanted to hear a joke. I was more than happy to share a joke! (email me back to hear the joke, its gold) and we exchanged jokes for a while then he started talking about how he wanted to find God! We thought this was like a miracle or something! Then he says "lets have a discussion" Then he promptly yelled at us and cussed at us and wouldn't let us say anything for about 5 minutes so we hung up. It was awesome. jk it sucked but it was a great learning experience! I can't wait for the day that someone yells at me face to face!! woooottt!!

Now let's get into some miracles and tender mercies!!
First let's talk about our new friend Israel! Sis Durham has been talking with him for a while now and he has really bad anxiety to the point where he can't drive anywhere. but we have been reading the Book of Mormon with him and he loves it! Then one day he texted us and said "I really need to tell you something. It's a good thing!" So when we could we called him and he said that when he reads the Book of Mormon he feels peace and calmness and he can even drive places!! The power of the book of Mormon is real! It's helping him and he knows it!

Another super awesome thing is Elizabeth got interviewed to be baptized! Let me tell ya, when she left she was just glowing! Her baptism is next week and we are so excited for her! please keep her in your prayers!
But wow what a crazy good week! God is so aware of you, the Book of Mormon has power, and this church is true! Love you all!!
Love,
Sister Anderson

3rd Transfer & the Training Wheels Come Off!

Good news and bad news. I'm done with training and I get to stay in Lakewood!!! WOOT WOOT YAY! But... Sister Roderer is being transferred!!! Which means I'll get a new companion which I'm excited about but I'm going to miss Sister Roderer SO MUCH! She's been awesome! She only has one more transfer but I guess God needs her somewhere else.

More sad news. Our district leader went home! The whole district was super sad all week but that's okay because we have an awesome new district leader! (Pictures below)

Good news! We got TWO friends to IN PERSON church!! AND they brought their kids!! YAYAYAY! It was so awesome! Both Elizabeth and Diane came! That same day we finished Elizabeth's lessons and she'll get baptized on the 23 or 26th!!! YAY! She is so awesome! At the end of our lesson we asked if she had any more questions and she said "Yes. What's the magical underwear and where do I get some?" Lol. We had some explaining to do but she is so excited to go to the temple and do work for her family! She is so awesome!

We are still praying with a lot of people but usually we pray with them once and then they ghost us. awesome. BUT this one lady asked us for prayers 3 times this week! She is so sweet! It's not even that her life is falling apart and she wants prayers. She wants them because she loves how she feels when we pray! So we love getting to talk with her and we are actually going to send the missionaries to her to give her an english bible! She is pretty excited about that! and we are excited for her!

We also taught our other friend Nicha the plan of salvation! She is doing awesome! She even said that her fiancĂ© may be interested in learning about the gospel as well! Yay!
We have also been doing some bible studies with people! We love them because they say stuff like "how did you know this was what I needed?" Its so awesome! I love the Holy Ghost! I love how aware God is of all of his children and how he uses me as an instrument in his hands to help them!

I was on a spiritual high this week! That is because God's hand is in it! He has led me to these people and has given me the knowledge to accommodate for their needs. I love being a missionary! The best part is, is that you don't have to have a black name tag to be one! Pray for a missionary opportunity this week! When you do, keep your eye out for ways to share the gospel! It will make your day I PROMISE! I love missionary work!
I love you and I KNOW heavenly father and Jesus Christ love you as well!
Love,
Sister Anderson

It's Me, Your Favorite Pacific North West Missionary

 Hello again!

We are back to having p-days on Monday woot woot! Not a lot has happened since Friday but we will see what I come up with haha
Good news! We have been praying with a lot of people and now we are going to start teaching them! We are having a bible study with some in the US and are sharing messages about Christ with some in the Bahamas and some in Africa! We are so excited! That will make for a busy and productive week this coming week!

I also got to attend my first baptism in the WEM! It was for a nine year old boy the elders had been teaching. His name is Desmond and when he came out of the water after being immersed he yelled "I feel like a floating duck!" and then promptly swam out of the font. Very interesting first baptism to say the least hahaha. But, we are so happy for him and his family!

We also got to do some more humanitarian work at sister Jacobson's! she is so awesome!
On Sunday we got to bear our testimonies in church for all of the 10 people that were allowed to come haha. Next week we will go back to having in person church! We are so pumped! It's still going to be split in half but human interaction is such a blessing!

We also got to have another lesson with Brother Madan. He is super awesome and wanted to role play with us because his friend keeps asking him questions about the church and he isn't sure how to answer them exactly. So he pretended to be his friend while we role played. He asked a lot of really deep questions and I probably wouldn't have known how to answer more than half of them before my mission. But, every question he asked Sister Roderer and I had an answer for. I know it was the spirit that helped us to remember a lot of scriptures and ways to answer the questions in ways he would understand. I'm so grateful for how much my knowledge of this gospel has expanded! Sister Roderer has played a huge role in that! I swear she knows everything!!! It's been so awesome to be able to learn from her! Sadly, I only have a week left of training and one of us might get transferred! We hope we can stay together for at least one more transfer!

The more I learn about this gospel the more I know it's true. There is no other church on Earth that has the same fullness of Jesus Christ gospel that he set up when he was on Earth. I'm so grateful for how much my testimony has grown and how much my knowledge has expanded. I invite you all to learn 5 new things about this gospel this week! (If you don't know where to find new things try reading from "Saints" on the gospel library app!) Then once you have learned about it try to teach someone the things you learned! trust me! it helps you to better understand it when you have to teach someone else!

I love you all and so does your Father in Heaven and our redeemer Jesus Christ!
Love,
Sister Anderson

2021?!?!

2020 is over! What a crazy year it was! I graduated with my associates from DSU, my sister got married, I got my mission call, did the MTC online, and have been in Washington for 2 and a half months!

I don't have a ton of time today so this will be short.
This week we had exchanges woot woot! I got to stay in our area with Sister Miller which meant I got to drive! It was my first time driving in months! But it wasn't so bad and I knew how to get around which is a huge blessing because I wasn't sure if I would be able to haha. We also got to teach our friend Elizabeth and she is doing awesome! Here's a cool story about Elizabeth and Sister Miller... So a year ago Sister Miller was in this zone and she knew the Sisters that used to be in my area, Lakewood. After our lesson with Elizabeth, Sister Miller thought she was very familiar. Like she had heard of Elizabeth before. So we went to area book wayyy back to last year and she was right! The other Lakewood Sisters contacted Elizabeth a year ago when Sister Miller was in the area and Elizabeth was a DO NOT CONTACT and the note under it said "for your own safety" but those brave missionaries were like... ehhh and they went and knocked on her door anyway! And now she has a strong testimony of the gospel and is excited to be baptized at the end of this month! This story shows how aware God is of us! God knew Elizabeth was ready to hear the message of the gospel so he sent missionaries!

Sorry I know this weeks email was kinda short but I have another P-day on Monday so get excited!
I love you and so does your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ,

Sister Anderson
